British soldier Tony McNally had a vital job in the Falklands - as a Rapier missile operator, his role was to protect British ships and men from air attack by Argentine pilots. On June 8, 1982, disaster struck when McNally's system failed, leaving him and his detachment helpless as bombs rained down on defenceless ships. Fifty men of the Welsh Guards lost their lives in that terrible incident, and many others were horribly burned.
