Description
Steam Rally is a collection of 72 high-quality color photographs that capture the essence of steam rallies in England over the past 30 years.
The images, taken by Robin Grierson, showcase engine men, their restored traction engines, and the lively steam heritage scene, which draws thousands to its events around the country every summer. Grierson's photography pays particular attention to the textures, surfaces, and subtle colors of the working steam environment.
With a deep understanding of the subject matter, having grown up around his father's bus garage and spent much time tinkering with engines, Grierson has created a thoughtful and respectful collection of images that include portraits, close-up details, and wider views of the steam rally within the rural landscape. The genuine tone of this work is undoubtedly rooted in the photographer's long acquaintance with tough working men and the tools and sounds of busy engineering yards.
