Description
St. Louis Jazz: A History explores the city's pivotal role in shaping jazz music in the early twentieth century.
The story begins with Jelly Roll Morton's arrival in 1914, followed by Louis Armstrong's visit to play on the "floating conservatories" along the Mississippi River in 1919. Miles Davis, a renowned jazz musician, had a profound impact on the genre throughout his illustrious career.
This book delves into the contributions of both local and national musicians who have shaped St. Louis' unique sound and its influence on the world of music.
