Something Rotten! is a comic musical about William Shakespeare interacting with characters he created. The story features an unlikely meeting between Shakespeare and his own creations, including Shylock, Portia, Bottom, and others. A nephew of Nostradamus makes predictions in this unique tale. The production opened on April 22, 2015, at the St. James Theatre in New York City, directed by Casey Nicholaw. The show was videotaped for The New York Public Library's Theatre on Film and Tape Archive in 2016. This script is a lightly marked typescript with no music, featuring a title page that has been removed. It provides an interesting glimpse into the creation of this musical comedy.
