Description
A sparrow, a spider and a swallowtail are all shouting at the same time. "Stop!" says one, while another cries out "Save him!" A third bird just sighs and shakes its head. A slug is making its way up a slope, seemingly unaware of the commotion it's causing. The animals' reactions to the slug's progress are puzzling. Are they trying to stop the slug or help it? The outcome is far from certain. This alliterative tale by Pamela Duncan Edwards and Henry Cole has a surprising twist that will leave children laughing out loud. A slimy, self-important slug is at the centre of the commotion. Its smug expression only adds to the tension as it continues its ascent up the slope.
