Description
Solange Pessoa: A Comprehensive Monograph This substantial volume is the first English-language monograph on Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa, offering her most comprehensive overview to date. Spanning three decades of her career, the book showcases Pessoa's sculptural work, which often explores themes related to human and animal bodies. Through a range of works, including selections from Pessoa's sketchbooks and archives, this volume argues for her unique contribution to Brazilian art. International scholars Cecilia Fajardo-Hill, Eduardo Jorge de Oliveira, and Alex Bacon contribute texts, while an interview with the artist by Liz Munsell provides insight into her practice. With a diverse range of materials used in her work, Pessoa's sculptures vacillate between beauty and abjection, forging connections between indigenous Brazilian traditions and international postminimal art. This book introduces English-language readers to Pessoa's compelling body of work.
