Description

Description

The four medieval romances collected here have long been overlooked. Until recently, Florimond, King Orphius, and Sir Colling were unknown to modern readers, although fragments had surfaced in the National Archives of Scotland in the 1970s. These texts are now presented for the first time in full, with comprehensive explanatory notes and an introduction that provides context, linguistic analysis, and discussion of their circulation history. The collection also includes a combined glossary, an Appendix with the text of the English Percy Folio ballad "Sir Cawline", and a bibliography. The texts are supplemented by Dr Rhiannon Purdie's expert research and editorial work, making this a valuable resource for scholars and readers interested in medieval literature.
