Description
Alice Paalen Rahon's poetry, now collected in English for the first time, offers a unique glimpse into the life and work of a visionary writer. Born French and naturalized Mexican, Rahon was a shapeshifter who defied categorization as a surrealist poet turned painter. Her poems weave together dream, fantasy, and madness, inspired by prehistoric art, lost love, and travels around the globe. This bilingual edition gathers her three published collections of poetry, along with uncollected and unpublished works, an album of portraits, manuscript pages, and artworks. For the first time in any language, this book presents Rahon's complete poetic output, including the original French versions of each poem.
