Description
Shakespeare's Cuthbert by Patrick Barrett is a riotous laugh-a-page farce that brings to life a forgotten village in a remote valley. Here, a cast of colourful characters live and breathe, including the village undertaker, the local beauty, and the anonymous milkman with flashing teeth. When a group of newcomers arrive at the seigneurial Mandrake Hall, they shake up the quiet lives of the villagers. As they search for something - or someone - in this by-water of rural oblivion, they uncover a persistent legend that the Bard himself was once employed as a tutor here. Could fragments of his early work be waiting to be discovered? Fame and fortune may follow, but corpses will be dug up first. In this humorous tale of misadventure and mayhem, nothing is as it seems in the village where everyone knows each other's business - or so they think.
