Description
Sex at Dusk: A Critical Re-examination of Human Sexuality. Lynn Saxon challenges the findings of Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jethá in his 2012 book, Sex at Dawn, arguing that their evidence is flawed and misrepresents human sexual evolution. Ryan and Jethá propose that before 10,000 years ago, humans engaged in relatively free and casual sex, with no concept of jealousy or conflict. However, Saxon contends that this narrative oversimplifies the complexity of human sexuality and ignores significant gaps in the evidence. By combining insights from evolutionary biology, primatology, anthropology, and human sexuality, Sex at Dusk offers a more nuanced understanding of our sexual evolution. Saxon's work provides a critical re-examination of the original claims made by Ryan and Jethá, revealing a more nuanced and accurate picture of human sex and its place in our evolutionary history.
