Description
Luís Vaz de Camões' Selected Shorter Poems offers a unique insight into the life and work of Portugal's greatest poet. This collection brings together some of his finest lyric poetry, including sonnets and redondilhas, which showcase his mastery of language and form. Camões' poetry is known for its beauty and depth, and this selection provides a valuable opportunity to explore his lesser-known works alongside his epic masterpiece, Os Lusíadas. The poet's life remains somewhat shrouded in mystery, but it is clear that he was a man of great experience and insight, serving as a soldier in the East and drawing on his travels for inspiration. This volume provides a chance to appreciate Camões' poetry in its own right, without the need for prior knowledge of his epic work. With 92 pages of beautifully translated verse, Selected Shorter Poems is an excellent choice for anyone interested in exploring the poetry of Portugal's national hero.
