Description

Ai Qing's Selected Poems offers a unique glimpse into the inner life of one of China's most influential poets. Born during a time of great change, Ai Qing's work reflects the turmoil and uncertainty of his era.

Breaking with traditional forms of Chinese poetry, Ai Qing innovatively adapted free verse to convey his thoughts and emotions in simple yet powerful lines. This collection traces the poet's journey through protest, longing for a better future, and a profound lyricism that reaches deep into the heart of the reader.

First published in English after a generation, this selection showcases Ai Qing's remarkable poetry and provides a fascinating insight into the life and work of one of China's most important poets.
