Description

Joe Daly's Scrublands is a unique and offbeat collection of comics that blend elements of surrealism and absurdity. Drawing inspiration from various sources, including animation and postmodern vaudeville, Daly creates dreamlike, hallucinatory cartoons that are both humorous and thought-provoking.

The book features two distinct sections: "Prebaby", a stream-of-consciousness narrative that explores themes of creation, survival, and the micro/macrocosm, told entirely without dialogue; and "Kobosh and Steve", a series of routines by a demented Abbott and Costello-like duo. The stories alternate between full-color and black-and-white, ranging from representational scenarios to wild visual excursions.

With its deadpan absurdity and surreal imagery, Scrublands introduces a new voice to the world of cartooning, promising an enthusiastic response from readers and critics alike.
