Description

Satan: A Biography by Henry Ansgar Kelly explores the traditional portrayal of Satan as Lucifer, God's enemy, and challenges this interpretation. Instead, Kelly delves into the 'Original Biography' of Satan, tracing his depiction in the New Testament. In this biography, Satan is seen as a celestial functionary appointed to govern the world, tasked with monitoring and testing human beings. However, he is also brutal and deceitful in his methods. Jesus predicts that his rule will soon come to an end. Kelly examines how this 'Original Biography' has evolved over time, influencing our understanding of humankind's inherited guilt, captivity by Satan, and punishment in Hell. Kelly argues for a return to the 'Original Biography', offering a fresh perspective on the nature of evil and its impact on human society.
