Description

Saltdean from Old Photographs is a fascinating collection of images that explores the changing face of this East Sussex coastal suburb. From its early days as open farmland to its development into a popular leisure resort, the book delves into the history of pictorial Saltdean.

The story begins with archaeological finds and the foreshore, highlighting the hazards and activities on the downland where the community would eventually be built. The book then follows the development of Saltdean as a resort, including its use during World War II and its subsequent revival in the 1950s and 1960s.

Featuring a range of images from this period, the book offers a unique insight into the history of Saltdean. It will be of interest to those familiar with the area as well as newcomers looking to learn more about this corner of the Sussex coast east of Brighton.
