Description
Rumi's Secret: The Life of the Sufi Poet of Love by Brad Gooch is a groundbreaking biography that brings to life the enigmatic poet and mystic Rumi. For centuries, his ecstatic love poems have captivated millions, but his life remained shrouded in mystery. Born in 1207 in Central Asia, Rumi's journey spanned over 2,500 miles as he traveled with his family, displaced by Mongol terror, to settle in Konya, Turkey. It was there that he met Shams of Tabriz, a teacher who transformed him from a respectable Muslim preacher into a poet and mystic. Their connection is one of the world's greatest spiritual love stories, marked by both human and divine reunion. This beautifully written biography reveals Rumi's devotion to a "religion of love," remarkable in his own time and made even more relevant for the twenty-first century. With vivid insight, Brad Gooch brings to light the unfolding of Rumi's life, shedding new light on this beloved poet and mystic.
