Description

Caroline Bird's poetry is marked by its boldness and integrity. With a career spanning over two decades, she has established herself as one of Carcanet's most popular poets. This collection, Rookie, brings together a formidable body of work that showcases her unique voice and perspective. Bird's poems are characterized by their startling instinct for metaphor and their courage in tackling subjects that may be considered risky. The result is a poem that is both a risk worth taking for the poet and the reader. With six Carcanet books to her name, including the award-winning 'The Air Year', Bird has consistently demonstrated her energy and compelling voice. Rookie presents a significant body of work from one of the poetry world's most energetic and engaging voices.
