Description

Road to Repeal: 50 Years of Struggle in Ireland for Contraception and Abortion tells the story of a pivotal moment in Irish history, when women's demands for equality sparked a fierce backlash. From the early days of the Irish Women's Liberation Movement to the eventual repeal of the Eighth Amendment in 2018, this book chronicles the individual struggles, referendums, court cases, and social change that shaped the country.

Through photographs and personal stories, Road to Repeal sheds light on the experiences of thousands of women who bravely sought medical treatment in secret, often at great personal cost. The book also explores the role of the Church and State in opposing these changes, and the determination of those who fought for their rights.

With a focus on the visual storytelling of the Together For Yes campaign, which ultimately led to the repeal of the Eighth Amendment, Road to Repeal is a powerful and thought-provoking account of a pivotal moment in Irish history.
