Description

A powerful and poignant story of two families forced together by history. Returning to Haifa is a moving exploration of home, identity, and the complexities of parenthood. In 1948, Palestinian couple Said and Safiyya fled their home during the Nakba, but now, in the aftermath of the 1967 Six Day War, they return to find someone else living where they once did. The encounter they both desire and dread with the son they had to leave behind is a confrontation that will challenge everything they thought they knew about family, belonging, and home. This adaptation of Ghassan Kanafani's novella has been brought to the stage by Naomi Wallace and Ismail Khalidi, premiering at the Finborough Theatre in London in February 2018.
