Description
Mozart's Requiem, a work left unfinished at the time of his death, is presented here in its most authentic form. This edition omits the continuations and orchestrations by Joseph Eybler and Franz Xaver Süssmayr, who were commissioned to complete Mozart's score by his widow Constanze. Instead, it features an orchestral reduction for rehearsal purposes, alongside a vocal score with editorial emendations and additions. The vocal score includes a new continuation for the 'Lacrymosa', while Süssmayr's Sanctus and Benedictus movements are presented as an appendix. For those interested in exploring the complete work, both the full orchestral and vocal material are available on hire/rental, or can be purchased separately. This edition provides a unique opportunity to experience Mozart's Requiem in its original form, with careful attention paid to editorial accuracy and authenticity.
