Description
Reading Bataille Now by Shannon Winnubst offers a fresh perspective on the work of Georges Bataille. While often associated with his provocative fiction and essays, Bataille's insights into politics, economics, sexuality, and performance are increasingly being recognized as revealing and timely. This collection of contemporary interpretations situates Bataille within French and European intellectual traditions, bringing forward key concepts for understanding his important work. Established voices and younger scholars contribute to the volume, covering a range of topics and themes including ethics, politics, economy, psychology, and performance. By presenting a sympathetic yet critical reappraisal of Bataille's philosophy, this book provides readers with a nuanced understanding of his ideas and their relevance today.
