Description
Racism as Zoological Witchcraft: A Guide for Getting Out by Aph Ko explores the complex relationships between animal rights and anti-racist movements. Ko examines the tensions between these two fields, offering possible resolutions and insights into how societal problems are reflected in media and cultural studies. The book draws on television shows and films to demonstrate new ways of thinking about social phenomena, reframing white supremacy as a form of zoological witchcraft that thrives on consuming nonhuman souls. By understanding the ideological and economic consumption of Blackness and animals in American society, Ko argues that we must thoroughly examine how we got into problematic systems in order to "get out".
