Description

Psychotic Temptation by Liliane Abensour explores the complex relationship between fear and psychosis. Abensour proposes that the pull towards psychosis is not a regression, but rather a response to hatred or denial of one's origins. This thought-provoking book delves into the struggle of psychotic patients to establish a coherent sense of self, allowing them to inhabit a shared world. The author locates this struggle within the universal human quest for balance between what we can and cannot allow ourselves to know about reality, including our own mortality and insignificance. Through her psychoanalytic work with psychotic patients, Abensour sheds light on the underlying dynamics driving this phenomenon.
