Description

Psychoanalytic Field Theory: A Contemporary Introduction by Giuseppe Civitarese provides a comprehensive overview of this influential approach to psychoanalysis. This foundational volume offers new insights into the nature of psychic change and therapeutic effectiveness.

The book presents a radically intersubjective view of the analytic process, focusing on the plane of unconscious communication common to both analyst and patient. By moving beyond the traditional I/you division, Civitarese aims to access the shared substance of the psyche, reframing the role of the unconscious as an important function of the personality.

With clear expositions of complex concepts and links to more detailed sources, this book is essential reading for clinicians, trainees, and students interested in contemporary psychoanalysis. It offers a unique perspective on the therapeutic process, making it a valuable resource for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of psychoanalytic field theory.
