Description

The complex relationships between technology and gender are explored in this thought-provoking critical approach. Contributors examine how technologies shape our notions of masculinity and femininity, and vice versa, revealing ambivalence and contradictions in women's experiences with machines. Topics range from the virtual female to surveillance systems, and from the emancipation of Barbie to the sexuality of computers. This book offers a visually rich and provocative analysis of the multifaceted connections between technology, gender, and society. Through its diverse range of contributors, Processed Lives sheds new light on the intersections of masculinity, femininity, and machines in everyday life.
