Description
Discover the enduring British passion for Dutch paintings from the 17th century, as showcased in this exhibition catalog featuring masterpieces from National Trust houses.
The catalog explores why and how these artworks were collected, commissioned, and displayed, with a focus on Golden Age masterpieces from properties such as Petworth House and Bath's Holburne Museum. Highlights include works by Rembrandt, Lievens, Hobbema, and other celebrated artists, alongside lesser-known pieces.
With contributions from curator Quentin Buvelot and David Taylor, this catalog also delves into the influence of Dutch culture on British country houses, examining its impact on furniture, garden design, print collecting, and ceramics. A unique insight into the National Trust's impressive collection of art.
