Description
Twenty-five years after his conviction, Leonard Peltier's life sentence remains a subject of controversy. In 2000, he published Prison Writings, a memoir and manifesto that chronicles his experiences in Leavenworth Prison. Edited by Harvey Arden, with an Introduction by Chief Arvol Looking Horse, and a Preface by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark. In this book, Peltier explores the insights gained from his suffering, invoking the Sun Dance as a means to transcend his pain. He also locates his experience within the history of American Indian peoples and their struggles against federal injustices. A powerful and thought-provoking work, Prison Writings offers a unique perspective on the experiences of those imprisoned for their activism and the ongoing struggle for justice and equality.
