Description
Pretending is Lying by Dominique Goblet is a tender and affecting memoir that offers a unique perspective on relationships and life. In this groundbreaking work, the acclaimed Belgian artist shares a series of dazzling fragments that explore her most important connections.
Through a mix of raw, slashing color and delicate black-and-white illustrations, Goblet examines her relationships with those closest to her, including her partner, daughter, and parents. The result is an unnerving comedy of paternal dysfunction, an ambivalent love story, and a searing account of childhood trauma.
This memoir is a tour de force of the art of comics, offering a dizzying and unforgettable view of a life in progress. With its innovative storytelling and striking visuals, Pretending is Lying is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in comics, memoirs, or the human experience.
