Description
This sociological critique explores the concept of 'praxis' in the social theory of influential Western Marxists, including its significance in the work of Lukács, Gramsci, Korsch, Horkheimer, Marcuse and Adorno during the inter-war period.
The book examines the validity and implications for sociology of two key ideas from Marx's philosophy: that true theory is authenticated by praxis, and that certain major social transformations should render sociology redundant. A detailed critique of Marx and Hegel underpins this analysis.
