Description
Eduardo Kac's Porneia presents a selection of works by the artist realized within the context of the Porn Art Movement, a vanguard that emerged in Brazil under military dictatorship between 1980 and 1982. This period saw a convergence of formal experimentation and boundary-pushing gender reinvention through performances, poetry, visual works, and interventions in daily life.
Through his radical body-based program, Kac challenged the semiotics of normative pornography, instead serving activism and imagination. Porneia offers a unique insight into this pivotal moment in art history, showcasing Kac's innovative approach to pushing boundaries and redefining the role of the artist.
