Description

Reading is class struggle. Politically Red explores how reading and writing are collective acts of political pedagogy, arguing that the struggle for change begins at the level of the sentence. By examining the work of key thinkers such as Marx, Luxemburg, Benjamin, Du Bois, Jameson, and others, Cadava and Nadal-Melsió shed light on history as an accumulation of violence. They contend that reading and writing are never solitary tasks, but always collaborative and collective, and able to revitalize our shared political imagination. Drawing on a "red common-wealth" - an archive of resources for doing political work, particularly anti-racist work - the authors demonstrate that sentences are historical and political events.
