Ignacio de Antioquía [Carta]. Policarpo de Esmirna [Carta]. Carta de la Iglesia de Esmirna a la Iglesia de Filomelio is a bilingual edition of the seven Ignatian letters, accompanied by an extensive introduction that surveys the current state of research on Ignatius. The Greek text of the letters is paired with two types of notes: one recording the most significant variations among different editors, and another listing biblical citations, both explicit and implicit.
The Spanish translation is supplemented by notes that provide parallel texts and explanations to help readers understand Ignatius' thoughts. This volume also includes the letter written by Policarpus to the Philippians, as well as the commonly referred-to Martyrdom of Policarpus, which in fact is a letter from the Church of Esmirna to the Church of Filomelio following Policarpus' martyrdom.
The edition's criteria for these writings are consistent with those applied to Ignatius' letters. The volume concludes with indexes of biblical references, onomastic references, and thematic topics.
