Alfred Schutz and Aron Gurwitsch: A Philosophical Friendship

This collection presents the remarkable correspondence between two influential philosophers who fled Europe on the eve of World War II, ultimately becoming seminal figures in the establishment of phenomenology in the United States. Their exchange explores the connections between science and the life-world, as well as the challenges of adapting to American academic life.

The correspondence offers a unique insight into the philosophical debates of its time, while also providing a personal and moving portrait of two distinguished men. It holds rich significance for current issues in philosophy and the social sciences, making it an important resource for scholars and enthusiasts alike.
