Description
The Petese Stories II (P. Petese II) by K. S. B. Ryholt is a unique compilation of seventy stories about the virtues and vices of women, compiled around 100 AD. This manuscript, discovered in the Carlsberg Papyri 6, provides valuable insights into ancient Egyptian literature. The stories are modelled on the fundamental Myth of the Sun's Eye and share similarities with the Arabian Nights, featuring a frame story that weaves together shorter tales. One notable story, known from Herodotus' translation as the Pheros Story, is preserved in this manuscript. This edition offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient Egyptian literature and culture, making it an interesting read for those interested in history, mythology, and literary criticism.
