Description
Paul The Pagans' Apostle by Paula Fredriksen A groundbreaking new portrait of Paul, one of history's most influential figures. This book offers a dramatically new perspective on Paul's life and mission, situating him within the charged social context of ancient gods, humans, pagans, and Jews. Paul's letters propel his readers into two distinct worlds: one Jewish, with apocalyptic hopes, and the other pagan, teeming with human and divine actors. By understanding this complex social context, we can begin to grasp Paul's convictions and actions. This original and provocative book sheds new light on one of history's most significant figures. By exploring Paul's world, Fredriksen reveals a nuanced and multifaceted individual, whose convictions about the first shaped his interactions with the second. A fascinating read for anyone interested in ancient history, biblical studies, or the life of Paul.
