Description

Valerie Bence's latest poetry pamphlet explores ordinary lives and the complex relationships between generations. Spanning several decades, this collection of vivid vignettes delves into the poet's childhood, courtship, motherhood, and grandmotherhood. At its heart are two women: Winifred and Harriet, the poet's grandmothers whose lives she reflects on as she navigates her own role as a grandmother. Through these stories, Bence weaves together memories of family, love, and loss, conjuring up the ghosts of her ancestors and finding herself in their footsteps. With lyrical prose and a keen eye for detail, Bence brings to life the everyday moments that shape our lives, from the mundane to the profound.
