Description

Susana Thénon's final collection, OVA COMPLETA, is a radical and innovative work that defies conventions. This English-language translation brings together Thénon's unique blend of classical and popular culture, lyrics, humor, and socio-political insight. Thénon's poetry expands to incorporate all it touches, embracing incoherence and musicality while writing obliquely of femicide, Argentina's last dictatorship, the Malvinas / Falklands war, and the heritage of colonialism. The result is a collection full of stylistic innovation, language play, dark humor, and socio-political insight. Translated by Rebekah Smith, OVA COMPLETA offers a bleak and acidic gaze on a world that longs to see reconstruction rising up over destruction. With an afterword by María Negroni, this book provides a unique perspective on the intersection of culture, politics, and identity.
