Description
Our Boys by Jonathan Lewis is a powerful and poignant play that explores the lives of five young soldiers struggling to cope with their experiences in the Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital. Set against the backdrop of 1984, the play delves into the tensions and conflicts that arise when a new officer joins their ranks. As the group's behaviour becomes increasingly erratic, the lines between humour and hostility begin to blur, leading to a series of confrontations that threaten to erupt into violence. The author's anger at the Army's neglect of its wounded heroes shines through in this perceptive and surprisingly tender work. Fired by his passion for truth, Lewis has created a play that is both a scathing critique of the military establishment and a deeply human exploration of the effects of war on those who have fought it.
