Description

Operation Totalize by Tim Saunders explores a pivotal moment in World War II history. In August 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Totalize, aiming to break through German defenses in Normandy and push south towards Falaise. The operation involved the II Canadian Corps, reinforced with British tanks, the 51st Highland, and Polish Armoured Divisions, employing innovative tactics such as a night armored assault. However, the Germans, including the 12th Hitlerjugend SS Panzer Division, proved formidable opponents, inflicting heavy casualties on the Allied forces. The outcome of Operation Totalize was marked by significant losses, including the death of an elite German panzer ace and the destruction of Worthington Force due to navigational error. This book provides a detailed account of this pivotal battle and its consequences for the war effort.
