Description

Christa Wolf's personal record of September 27th is a unique document of our times. For over fifty years, she kept a detailed diary of this single day, reflecting on its significance across many years. This collection, translated by Katy Derbyshire, brings the practice up to date with notes from the last decade of her life. Wolf's characteristic precision and transparency shine through as she examines the interplay between the private and major contemporary historical events. She writes about Germany after 9/11, her work on City of Angels, and her confrontation with old age. One Day a Year offers a compelling glimpse into the life of one of the world's greatest writers. This book is both a personal record and a reflection on the human experience, offering insights into the complexities of life in contemporary Europe.
