Description
Thomas M. Disch's On SF is a collection of essays that span twenty-five years of his career as a science fiction writer and critic. Disch's perspectives on his genre are marked by skepticism, novelism, and incendiary candour, as he explores the roots of science fiction from its literary precursors to modern practitioners like Stephen King and Philip Dick. His writing is lively, agile, and irreverent, exhibiting an incisive honesty that sets him apart as a critic. This volume will appeal to both fans of science fiction and connoisseurs of fine critical prose, offering a unique blend of insightful analysis and provocative commentary on the genre he helped shape.
