Description
Bramante's work offers a unique starting point for imagining a contemporary theory of space and reflecting on the relationship between architecture and politics. This reappraisal, by architect Pier Paolo Tamburelli, highlights the peculiarities of Bramante's architecture and its relevance to current architectural practice.
Through a discussion of Bramante's work in Milan and Rome, Tamburelli reveals new possibilities for appreciating his spatial experiments and deriving a revised theory of space. This theory might even advance a newfound political understanding of classicism, providing a model for public architecture that is more valid now than ever before.
The book is accompanied by a series of color photographic plates of Bramante's works, adding visual depth to the discussion. A valuable contribution to architectural literature, On Bramante is a thought-provoking exploration of the enduring relevance of Renaissance design principles.
