Description
A vivid and humorous take on growing up is offered in Elisa Victoria's debut novel, Oldladyvoice. Set against the backdrop of a sweltering summer, Marina spends time with her grandmother while her mother receives hospital treatment for an unnamed illness. The result is a chaotic and liberating experience, filled with endless possibilities and no rules. As Marina navigates adolescence, she finds herself torn between the safety of childhood and the intense emotions that are emerging within her. With a keen eye for observation and a sharp sense of humour, Victoria presents a fresh and relatable portrayal of growing up. Through Marina's voice, we experience the challenges and confusions of adolescence with honesty and wit. This is a story about identity, family, and the complexities of growing up, told with a unique and engaging perspective.
