Description

At the age of 47, Francisco de Goya's life was forever changed by a serious illness that left him stone deaf. Julia Blackburn explores the final thirty-five years of his life, a period marked by turmoil and transformation.

Goya's response to the world around him was one of visionary art, as he created paintings, drawings, and etchings that reflected the chaos and violence of his time. Yet, these were also years of tenderness and intimacy, as Goya formed deep connections with those close to him.

This book offers a deeply personal portrait of an extraordinary artist, one who saw through the silence in his own mind and captured the ferocious energy and passion that drove his genius.
