Description

Richard Norton-Taylor's memoir offers an insider's perspective on his forty-year career as a journalist covering the world of spies and their masters in Whitehall. With unflinching determination, he campaigned against official secrecy, exposing wrongdoing and incompetence within the security and intelligence agencies.

Norton-Taylor gained access to sensitive sources, including defence insiders, allowing him to provide unique insights into military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. His reporting was marked by a willingness to challenge those in power, as described by a former senior Intelligence official who called him "a long-term thorn in the side of the intelligence establishment".

This account is both provocative and illuminating, providing a critical examination of Norton-Taylor's experiences investigating the secret world. With its rich anecdotes, The State of Secrecy offers a compelling look at the author's remarkable career.
