Description
This novel weaves together multiple narratives to explore the complexities of occupation and its various forms. Through conversations with refugees occupying a building in São Paulo, reflections on his father's illness, and his wife's pregnancy, Julián Fuks builds associations that reveal the fragility of life and the risk of solitude.
The author's prose is marked by its precision and nuance, exposing the brutality of not belonging while showcasing the connections between glimpsing a life's beginning and end, and the act of occupation itself. With this work, Julián Fuks returns to his auto-fictional alter ego Sebastián, offering a powerful exploration of human experience.
Published in 2021 by Charco Press, Occupation is a thought-provoking novel that invites readers to consider the various forms of occupation and their impact on individuals and society.
