A new invention by Professor Bacterio has been stolen. Mortadelo and Filemón are tasked with solving the case. The professor has created a machine that can clone ancestors of any human being, based on Charles Darwin's book "The Origin of Species". To test it, he uses Mortadelo's tissue to create a monkey ancestor.
The machine is now missing, so anything can happen. Mortadelo and Filemón must recover the machine and catch the cloned ancestors that Professor Bacterio has already created, starting with Mortadelo's own.
