Description
The New Orleans Jazz Styles series by William Gillock is designed for pianists performing at an intermediate level. As part of their musical education, students are encouraged to explore various popular styles, including jazz, as a recurring phase of study.
Performing these pieces requires spontaneity and improvisation, which are essential ingredients of the jazz idiom. The series offers four titles that showcase different aspects of New Orleans jazz: Mardi Gras, Dixieland Combo, Frankie and Johnny (Theme and Variations), and two other pieces, New Orleans Nightfall and The Constant Bass.
