Description

New Geographies #10 Fallow offers a critical examination of strategic dormancy in cycles of valorization and devalorization of the built and unbuilt environment. Borrowing from agriculture, the term fallow is used to explore modes of revaluation in various forms: economic, ecological, social, cultural. This compilation aims to provoke a critical examination of unused, devalued, and dormant sites, strategies, scales, and imaginaries, with the goal of illuminating new speculative horizons for design disciplines. It also demarcates points for cross-disciplinary study of built and unbuilt environments. By exploring these themes, New Geographies #10 Fallow provides a foundation for designers to build new lines of questioning regarding urbanization processes, ultimately shedding light on new possibilities for the design disciplines.
