The Negritude movement, which marked a significant shift in black French intellectuals' perspectives, has been largely overlooked in favour of its male founders. This oversight neglects the crucial role played by four French-speaking black women who were integral to the movement's creation and evolution. These women, including Suzanne Lacascade, Jane and Paulette Nardal, and Suzanne Roussy-Cesaire, made vital contributions through their writing and activism.
